Hogbusters '07
Wet and wild. Those are the two best adjectives I can come up with to describe our weekend out at the Pure Country Ranch. Miles away from civilization, Rough-camping on a hill, the stench of hogs all around us, oh the horror! We were surrounded . . . they advanced on us in waves, their toughness & speed made them ghostlike. Our artillery and grenades were not deterring them, but rather they were finding humor in our attempts to fend off the herds. Our only chance was to take out their leader, bringing confusion and disorganization to their attacks. The blinding, piercing rain made an accurate sniper shot impossible. In acts of bewildering heroism four of our finest & bravest sacrificially surrendered themselves to the mission at hand. So… they rounded up the last of the ammunition, loaded up their weapons, scribbled notes to their families and charged blindly down the hill firing with each step they took. When the chaos was over and the smoke cleared and the screams of agony had subsided, three brave men remained. The battle was over . . . victory laid at their feet.
