Panama '09
RMO Panama ’08 was a true experience!
We saw just about everything imaginable.
Panama ’08 was absolutely a blast. We obviously had no idea what to expect, but God is good. From our take-off in Houston to our return we saw Him at work in every way. Out trip was mixed with comedy, drama, action, you name it. I was very anxious and worried at several times, but God always shows up and shows off! We met some amazing people and witnessed some very interesting things during our stay at Ali Gandi.

This is where we ended up after the plane landed in Panama city and a puddle jumper flew us to the other side of the Darien Jungle to the Kuna Coastline where we met our Kuna Indian Hosts. They loaded us into these hollowed out tree canoes and took us out to their island. Hello Culture Shock! What an adventure it turned out to be. What beautiful people, culture and terrain.

The Kuna people were so sweet and giving. They were so open to the gospel that we brought. We went to hut-homes and shared with families the good news as well as just walking around the island talking with whomever we could.
In the evenings we held services where the gospel was presented and accepted as well as encouraged other believers. We aided in the construction of a Feeding center for small children and expecting mothers during the day.

We had a very blessed time talking and many times playing together as we watch God working around us. The beauty of it is that we get to go back!

In July of 2009 we will be returning to the Kuna Coast. This time we will be farther West of Ali Gandi though. We are excited about this new adventure. We will be very busy while we are there going from village to village witnessing and establishing a circuit for a local missionary to follow after we leave. We will strengthen believers and train leaders in the evenings. We will be doing any hands-on projects that we can find. We’ll do some snorkeling and fishing with the Indians. Most importantly however we will be sharing the love of Christ with the Kuna Indians of Panama!

Would you pray about either giving towards someone’s trip either a one time gift or monthly? Or how about going there with us? If God has asked you to give, we have made it easy for you. At the bottom of the page you will see the names of the missionaries that still need help raising the funds for the trip. Read their bios and give as God directs. If God is telling you to GO then by all means, lets go. But first please fill out and return the following documents to Lee McKinney.

“I had seen it on TV before; rural villages, skinny kids, bare essentials…but pictures and video can never really capture the feeling of actually being there.  Last summer as I sat and watched the daily activity of the village on the lsland of Ailigandi, God reminded me of something I had heard previously, “We are plan A, there is no plan B”.  Our objective is clear; we are to spread the gospel message of Jesus Christ to the world.  You can’t develop an accurate opinion about a people without experiencing them.  I thought, God loves these people and I realized they now have a place in my heart too.  These are a people steeped in tradition and superstition yet many are open to the gospel.  Life’s equations are often complicated but while in Panama the equation was very simple; God has given us a message to deliver, nothing can be more important than that.  Last year there were two of us, this year I am excited that God has placed a calling on many hearts and I anticipate a great work for the Kingdom.”
